Understanding Pet Urine & Discoloration:
Pet urine changes chemically over time. While it often starts acidic, as it breaks down it can become more alkaline and leave behind mineral salts that bind to carpet fibres. In some cases—especially with light-coloured nylon or wool carpets—this process can permanently affect or remove the original factory dye, resulting in discoloration that cleaning cannot reverse.
Our cleaning process is designed to thoroughly sanitize and neutralize affected areas and significantly reduce or eliminate odours. However, it cannot restore carpet colour where the dye has been permanently altered or removed.
Deep Contamination & Subfloor Limitations:
When pets have repeatedly soiled the same area over long periods, urine can penetrate beyond the carpet and padding into the subfloor (wood or concrete beneath).
In these situations, standard carpet cleaning and even sub-surface extraction may not be sufficient on their own. Full remediation may require lifting the carpet, removing and replacing contaminated underlay, and treating the subfloor with specialized sealing products to address lingering odours.
If this level of restoration is needed, it is considered advanced work and will be assessed and quoted separately before any additional service is performed.

If pet urine has migrated past the underpad and deeply saturated the wooden or concrete subfloor beneath, a complete structural remedy (like replacing the underpad and sealing the subfloor) may be required. Furthermore, old or heavily oxidized biological deposits can permanently dye fabric fibers; therefore, our primary focus is maximum sanitization and odor destruction, though some historic staining may remain permanent.
